Minnows Norway take down Goliaths in U18 Qualifying
Norway's Under 18 National Team have caused many upsets during Qualifying for the 4th IBF U18 World Cup. After thrashing Malta in their opening match 92-61, their first ever win in a competitive NT match, they went on to defy all odds and beat FYR Macedonia 74-61 away! However, the best was still to come. The lowest ranked U18 team had to take on the might of Estonia, the reigning U18 World Champions and first seeds in the qualifiers. A win here looked nigh-on impossible despite their emphatic upset the week before. Axelsen, Braten, Farstad, Olsen and Holm played for their lives, trying to stay in the match. They were down by 4 points at half time, not bad considering the opposition. But what followed was simply unbelieveable. Norway managed to edge back into the match and take a two point lead into the final quarter...and extended to 6 by the time the final buzzer went! A 62-56 win at the Boiling Ice Arena will go down in history as one of the biggest upsets Basketsim has ever seen. A holy trinity was on the cards - a win against Israel would give them a 4-0 record and a lead of Group E. And boy it was a close match! Norway managed to lead from the start, and edged away in the third quarter. But the final 10 minutes ended in heartbreak for the Vikings - Israel snatching the win at the final buzzer by a single point. Still, a win against New Zealand a week later unbelieveably put the lowest ranked Under 18 Nation is Basketsim in a qualifying position, for the first time ever in their history. Wins against Malta and FYR Macedonia would all but secure third and put them in their best ever chance to qualify for a major tournament. |

Our correspondent in Slovenia managed to find out who behind Adiego is! He brought back a press clipping of the local news.
It was a really touch achievement that took us more than 2 years of hard work. So we are proudly presenting the results of our survey!

Green-Whites turn themselves to Black-Blue-Whites

Shocking news were received from a lithuanian club BC Logitech on 04.12.2009. General manager of the team blinkas announced in a press conference, that due to some financial struggles and a bad atmosphere in a team, it has been decided that the team needs some radical changes to be done. After a meeting of shareholders, it has been decided to change the name, the atributics and some of the staff in the team. So since that day, BC Logitech is know as Mad Dolphins, and the new team colours would be white, black and blue. Although the team's name has been changed, it will still be playing at the same TD Banknorth Garden Arena so all the fans won't face any discomfort. As a response to these changes, the fanclub of the team made some changes too. They renamed themselves from 'GreenWhite Alt' to 'Blue-Wave'. For the end, I think we all should wish a luck for the team in an brand new name!
